Our researchers work within four major thematic axes that orient themselves
through interdisciplinary studies and cross-cutting areas, with the aim of investigating and seeking
solutions to the complex problems of our society.
The calls or research support programs are financed with resources from various governmental and non-governmental organizations in Brazil and other countries. The research fundinginclude various modalities, such as support for research projects, promotion of scientific publications, subsidies for the training of researchers or for the promotion of scientific events.
As scientific committees are linked organs directly to the respective Directions of PUCRS University Units, constituting evaluation instances related to research activities carried out within the scope of the Units. The scientific committees are made up of accredited, permanent or collaborating professors in the PUCRS postgraduate programs and linked to a CNPq research group. Scientific committees have a Coordinator and a Deputy Coordinator, appointed by the director of the respective academic unit.
Evaluate research projects, at all levels, regarding the expectation of knowledge generation, mainly in terms of feasibility and relevance compatible with the academic degree for which it is proposed, and regarding scientific and methodological aspects;
Forward research projects, when necessary, to other PUCRS bodies, especially the Research Ethics Committee (CEP/PUCRS) and/or the Ethics Committee for the Use of Animals (Ceua), in accordance with current regulations;
Propose to the Pro-Rectory of Research, Innovation and Development institutional guidelines specific to the areas of knowledge developed in the Unit that complement the standards currently in force;
Keep records relating to opinions issued and the research activities of the Academic Unit.
The term of office of the scientific committees will be one (1) year, with the possibility of reappointment and with the renewal of 1/3 of its members for each new term.
