Friday, July 15 | 2022

According to the new survey Times Higher Education (THE) Latin America 2022, released this Thursday, July 14, once again PUCRS is among the best universities in Latin America and the Caribbean. The institution appears as the best private university in the Southern Region of Brazil, in second place among all private higher education institutions (HEIs) in Brazil and maintained the 14th position among all, considering 197 institutions evaluated, from 13 countries.

Since 2016, PUCRS has maintained a prominent position. In the ranking – considered one of the most important indicators of higher education worldwide –, the University stands out especially inesito Citações, being the 6th best Brazilian HEI (among public and private). The recognition highlights the influence of research from publications indexed between 2017 and 2022.

According to the Times Higher Education (THE), universities are analyzed in five areas: teaching (36%), research (34%), citation impact (20%), international participation (7,5%) and industry revenue (2,5%). PUCRS's ranking demonstrates the result of the work developed in these areas and reinforces the institution's commitment to positive impact on society, knowledge production and excellent teaching.

Also among the best in the world

In June, for the second consecutive year, PUCRS was also the only private university in Rio Grande do Sul present at the QS World University Rankings 2023. The survey ranked the University among the best in Brazil, as the third best private Higher Education Institution (HEI) in the country.

Conducted by the British company Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), the ranking analyzed 2.462 universities in 100 countries, and of these, 1.422 were ranked. Brazil has 35 listed institutions, only four of which are from Rio Grande do Sul. In addition to PUCRS, the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM) and the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPEL) are also present.
