Now with ISSN, the magazine is now available for download
Tuesday, May 13 | 2025Placing people at the center of every experience and exploring the paths of care, issue 196 of the PUCRS Journal has arrived! The cover story features the Center for Innovation in Advanced Therapies (Cita), of the Brain Institute (InsCer), and discusses topics such as the inversion of the age pyramid and the need for strategic solutions in public policies, health and research.
The new edition also presents the new management for 2025-2028; the first direct CO₂ capture equipment in Latin America, installed at PUCRS; the challenges of generation Z in the job market; excellent training in Aeronautical Sciences; and the practical work of the Legal Practice Center — among other current issues.
This issue also marks a new development: now with an ISSN, the PUCRS Journal has gained international recognition as a serial publication, and can be used as a reference in academic papers. Writing his first article in the PUCRS Journal as rector of the University, Brother Manuir Mentges emphasizes that PUCRS is, above all, a University made by people for people.
“With innovation, care, and education, we reaffirm our commitment to building an increasingly human university.”, says the dean.
The cover story presents Cita, a unique initiative in the world that brings hope to those awaiting treatment for rare diseases, neurodegenerative diseases and different types of cancer. The report traces a timeline of InsCer and shows how Cita was conceived. PUCRS professor and director of InsCer, Jaderson Costa da Costa, emphasizes that Cita is much more than a scientific enterprise.
“We are creating Cita for society. Academia is doing its part, and the community and private initiative are doing their part too. What we need is to maintain the government’s support. This will increase our chances of success.”
In addition to the main theme, PUCRS Magazine features other sections that highlight the diversity of initiatives and stories linked to the University.
The editorial board of PUCRS Magazine is composed of the Provost of Undergraduate Studies and Continuing Education, Adriana Kampff, the Provost of Health, Andrea Bandeira, the Provost of Research and Graduate Studies, Draiton de Souza, the Head of the Office of the Rector, Alexander Bernardes Goulart, and the Director of Communications and Marketing, Lidiane Lorenzoni.
The publication is editorially supervised by Rafaela Redin, supervisor of the Content and Press Relations Unit of the PUCRS Communications and Marketing Department. It is also edited by journalist Leonardo Pujol, from República Conteúdo.
