Formed by students, athletics are independent leagues that seek to insert freshmen and seniors into the university sports context, through championships, cultural and social events, parties and games. The main objective is encourage the practice of sports in the academic environment, promoting integration among students through activities that encourage team spirit and healthy competitiveness. It's also an opportunity for those who like to exercise.
Beyond the fields and courts, athletics also work on social impact actions, supporting local causes and communities through fundraising, donations and volunteer work, contributing to strengthening the sense of collectivity and belonging and to civic formation.
To ensure that everything runs smoothly, college athletics are organized into specific functions, with a president and vice president in the management, And a secretary, a treasurer, and also marketing, events, logistics and social affairs directors.

“The athletic teams are made up only of students who are regularly enrolled in undergraduate or graduate courses and our PUCRS Alumni. As such, they play a fundamental role in creating a more dynamic and inclusive university environment by encouraging participation in extracurricular activities.”He says.
For those who are unsure about participating, Ana emphasizes that it is a transformative opportunity.
“Give it a try! Being part of a sports team goes way beyond playing sports or being the best athlete. Many people get involved in other ways, in areas such as events, communication, cheerleading, team support and much more. Each sports team has its own identity and opportunities. Look for the one in your course, talk to the people and find out where you can contribute and connect.”.
