Polytechnic School's Graduate Program holds Inaugural Lecture with Industry 4.0 specialist

Lecture with COPPE/UFRJ professor highlighted the role of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in transforming the oil and gas industry.

On April 24, the PUCRS Polytechnic School held the Inaugural Lecture of the Graduate Programs in Materials Engineering and Technology (PGETEMA), Computer Science (Graduate ProgramCC) e Science and Mathematics Education (Graduate ProgramEduCEM). The event had as guest Prof. Argimiro Secchi, from COPPE/UFRJ, renowned researcher in the area of ​​Chemical Engineering, who gave the lecture “Industry 4.0 in Oil and Gas: potential of Digital Technologies and Artificial Intelligence”.

On the occasion, the speaker addressed the importance of the convergence between phenomenological knowledge and new digital tools, such as artificial intelligence, highlighting the strategic role of these technologies in the advancement and transformation of the oil and gas industry. The presentation highlighted the potential of these innovations to promote greater efficiency, sustainability and competitiveness in the sector.

The activity was attended by the teacher Luiz Gustavo Leão Fernandes, Director of Graduate Studies at PUCRS, as well as undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and researchers from the academic community. The event was a good opportunity to promote qualified reflections on the role of different areas of knowledge in the integrated contribution to the development of innovative and high-impact solutions to the complex challenges of the industry. The Inaugural Lecture marked the official start of the academic calendar of the Polytechnic School's graduate programs and reaffirmed PUCRS' commitment to excellence in scientific and technological training, as well as to the articulation between the university and the productive sector.
