One of the prerequisites for those who wish to pursue a master's or doctorate is to have a Lattes CV. It is part of the Lattes Platform, a virtual environment created by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) with the aim of integrating into a single system the databases of curricula, research groups and institutions from all over the country.
The platform is a way to standardize the registration of the entire academic life cycle of students and researchers in Brazil nationwide. Therefore, it is extremely detailed. It is no wonder that its evaluation is one of the stages of the selection processes for our Graduate Programs.
In addition to basic personal information, such as name, identity and affiliation, the Lattes CV includes specifications about the academic trajectory and professional activities. The following are requested: personal data; academic background; languages and speaking, writing and reading skills; area of scientific production; published articles; research or extension projects developed; and research groups in which the person is or has been a member.
It is very common for researchers at the beginning of their careers to not have the information to fill in all the possible fields that the Lattes CV offers – and that is okay. Some data is not mandatory. Therefore, anyone can create their CV on the platform.
Registering your Lattes CV on the platform is quite simple. Just follow these steps:
1. Access the website of Lattes Platform.
2. Click in Register new resume.
3. Fill in the basic registration details and create a password.
4. Fill in the data relating to personal information. The data must be the same as that registered with the Federal Revenue Service.
5. Enter an address, which can be residential or professional.
6. Provide information on completed academic training and ongoing academic training.
7. Enter data relating to the company or institution where you work.
8. Fill in the data relating to the area of activity (Journalism, Engineering, Medicine, etc.) and language skills (according to your level of understanding).
9. Submit your Lattes CV. Within 24 hours, your CV will be on the Lattes Platform.
Once ready, you can update your resume with each change in your academic life. To do this, back on the main page, click on “update resume” and you will be redirected to log in to the platform with your GOV.BR account details.

The selection process for admission to the PUCRS master's and doctorate programs in the second semester of 2025 is now open. Applications for the 17 postgraduate programs can be submitted until June 30, exclusively online.
