  • What will the entrance exam be like?

The exam is held in person for the Summer Entrance Exam and online for the Winter Entrance Exam, through a writing test. The University has also reserved 50% of the places in all courses for admission with the score from the National High School Exam (Enem).

  • What will the online writing test be like?

Candidates will write the essay using a specific platform, which can be accessed on the test days via a link sent by email and which will also be available on the Candidate Panel on the PUCRS Portal.

The entire test period will be recorded and all of the candidate's actions during the test will be recorded. The candidate's microphone, camera and screen will be monitored throughout the test period.

  • Where do I register?

  • How do I register?

Access the registration form and fill in all the information by the date described in the notice and pay the registration fee by credit card or at any bank branch in the national territory.

  • What documents are required to register?

To correctly and completely fill out the Registration Form, a valid Identity Card is required, if Brazilian. If the candidate is a foreigner, the National Foreigner Registry (RNE) is required, which is proof of legal residence in Brazil. Candidates who opt for Modality II, in addition to their Identity Number, must provide their CPF number, inform the edition of the Enem they wish to take (between 2012 and 2022) and the registration number for the respective edition, so that they can be identified by Inep.

  • How much does it cost and how do I pay for my registration?

For the PUCRS Entrance Exam, the fee is R$60 for the online essay test or via Enem. Payment can be made by credit card and upon presentation of the printed payment slip.

  • I have specific needs and would like to take the test, how should I proceed?

Candidates with specific educational needs may request specific assistance to take the tests. To do so, they must send an email to the address vestibular@pucrs.br until the last day of payment of the registration fee to formalize your request and present a recent report (maximum 12 months old), issued and signed by a specialist accredited by the Regional Medical Council (CRM). The original document must be presented on the day of the test.

The document must specify the nature, type and degree of disability, as well as the recommended conditions for taking the tests. The service will be provided by Inclusive Education Support Center.

  • When and how will the list of classifieds be published?

The list of candidates classified in the Entrance Exam will be published in general alphabetical order on this website.

You will also be notified by email and we will simultaneously publish it on our official channels from that day onwards.

  • Contract for the provision of educational services

The educational services provision contract is the instrument that regulates the relationship between the University and the student, establishing the rights and duties of both parties.

  • How is the selection made?

The selection process for Master's and Doctorate degrees is defined by the Graduate Programs. It may be through a test, interview, project presentation, recommendation letter, CV evaluation or other stages.

  • How do I find out about the selection?

Each program has a notice, which lists the prerequisites for application and the stages of the selection process.

  • Documents for registration?

When registering online, you must attach the requested documents, which may be general, such as identity card, Individual Taxpayer Registry (CPF), voter registration card, proof of completion of military service, link to your Lattes CV and undergraduate degree; or even some specific proof from your field.

In some cases, a memorial is also requested, a document with a biographical summary about your university education and technical, didactic and scientific activities, for example; or a work plan, involving teaching, guidance and research activities.

  • What is the selection interview like?

This is a time for you to briefly talk about your academic trajectory, defend your project or pre-project and explain how it fits into the chosen area and line of research, how the research would be carried out, etc. If your Graduate Program requires proficiency in another language, you may be asked to read a text in that language, with free translation.

  • Do I need language proficiency?

In the case of Graduate Programs that require proficiency in another language, proof of proficiency may be provided by taking a test or exam chosen by the school. But don't worry, the goal is to identify whether you understand the language indicated at the time of registration. Fluency in the language is not required, and this is not the main criterion for elimination.

  • Do I need a Lattes CV?

It is part of the Lattes Platform, which is a virtual environment created by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) to integrate into a single system the databases of CVs, research groups and institutions from all over the country. If you don't have one yet, we have prepared a simple step-by-step guide on how to create one.

  • What is the evaluation board like?

The evaluation criteria are defined by the selection committees, formed by professors from each Graduate Program. They are responsible for preparing the tests and individual interviews; analyzing the documentation presented; evaluating the project and Lattes and publishing the results of the selection process.

  • How will I know if I have been ranked?

Each Graduate Program has a different way of evaluating candidates. Some use scores for each stage, others prioritize the suitability of the project to the chosen line of research, among other criteria. The approved projects will be published on the website and within the deadline indicated in the schedule of the announcement. Good luck, we are rooting for you!

  • I was not selected, what should I do?

Don't be discouraged! Going through the selection process itself is a form of learning and you will be better prepared to present your project again at the next opportunity. One tip is to talk to the coordinator of the Graduate Program you are interested in to understand which points can be better developed and keep an eye on PUCRS channels to find out about the latest developments.
