The Portuguese Language and Literature course at PUCRS prepares you to be an educator and transform lives. One of the great advantages of our course is the flexible curriculum, which allows students to choose different paths, opting for more literature or Portuguese language subjects. In addition to working as a Portuguese and literature teacher, you can also work in other areas, such as editor, proofreader, writer, content creator, among others.
Through integration with the Creative Writing course, which is the first of its kind in Brazil, our course also allows you to pursue a career as a writer. In addition, here you will develop skills and competencies that are essential for the profession, such as ethics, creativity, critical and questioning thinking, listening, empathy and much more. Those who study Portuguese Literature – Bachelor’s degree at PUCRS can choose different paths, opting for more disciplines in literature or Portuguese language. Our curriculum also offers a strong pedagogical foundation and great integration with other areas of humanities.

From the first semesters, for example, students share knowledge from different undergraduate courses in the Introduction to Teaching and basic courses at the School of Humanities.
