Our Identity

The Marist values of audacity, love of work, family spirit, simplicity, solidarity, spirituality and presence guide our constant journey in seeking to impact people's lives. In the daily life of the university community, this is reflected in actions ranging from community health projects to educational programs of inclusion and diversity, which seek to reduce inequalities and promote well-being beyond the Campus.

PUCRS is a community university and, due to its identity and mission, it assumes extension as an essential commitment, in conjunction with teaching and research. Students, technicians and professors integrate knowledge and skills to identify and act on the needs of the community, positively impacting society and benefiting more than half a million citizens each year. Through its various extension projects and actions, PUCRS contributes to the development of a more just and fraternal society.

With more than a bicentennial of history, the Marist legacy is alive today in various parts of the world, acting on different fronts with the same objective: to evangelize through education in search of a more just and supportive reality.

As part of PUCRS' institutional mission, we seek to promote the experience of our way of being and acting, creating a spirit of what it means to be Marist in our area of activity, inspiring humanized work and contributing to the transformation of society.

Over the years, the Marist charism has multiplied and is now organized into six geographic regions. We, the Marist Network, are part of this mission in the South America Region, which consists of the union of five other Administrative Units located in Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Peru, Chile and Bolivia.
