Over its 75 years, PUCRS has grown not only physically, but also in complexity, needing to be in constant transformation, in synergy with the speed of changes in today's times. Its tradition is renewed every day, in a constant search for excellence, and there is certainly still much to build.
Each new building on the Campus seeks to meet new needs for teaching, research, extension and new businesses. And with each new environment, the possibilities, connections, stories and opportunities multiply to become an increasingly global, multiple and plural institution that seeks to enhance the convergence between areas of knowledge at every opportunity.
The “Projeto Recortes e Pontos de Vista” (Project Cutouts and Viewpoints) seeks to use illustrations by the architect and professor at the Polytechnic School, Paulo Ricardo Bregatto, and through the history of the campus environments, to rescue and value our essence as an institution that is a protagonist of its time, in constant transformation and interaction with society. We are a university made up of an inclusive, plural and creative community that holds values such as love for work, audacity, family spirit and solidarity at its core. All of this is organized, realized and can happen in these beautiful settings that we see illustrated here. May we appreciate beyond the images and take a moment to look at everyday life, celebrating the history and possibilities that present themselves as the days, years and decades pass. May we dream and carry out, in each of these spaces, projects from small to large and bold.
“Mastery of the future will never be perfect due to the existence of time. It is not about mastering the future, but making it plausible based on the reality we have and the projects we dream of. This has been the premise of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul in its 75 years of existence.”
Brother Evilázio Teixeira, Rector of PUCRS
